Stem Cell Culture Supernatant

Last updated: 10 July 2026

Stem cell culture supernatant is a treatment that uses the fluid drawn off during stem cell culture, which is rich in growth factors and cytokines. What distinguishes it is that no cells are administered — only what the cells secreted. The profile of those components differs according to the source tissue: adipose, umbilical cord or dental pulp. We offer it by IV drip and by injection.

About

About this treatment

What culture supernatant is

As stem cells are cultured, they secrete a range of growth factors and cytokines — the signalling molecules cells use to communicate — into the culture medium. The fluid collected from above that culture is the supernatant. Because no cells themselves are administered, it sits in a different category from cell therapy.

Differences by source tissue

We work with supernatant from three source tissues: adipose, umbilical cord and dental pulp. The balance of components is reported to differ by source, and a doctor will recommend one according to what you are aiming for.

Flow

What happens, step by step

  1. Consultation and examination

The doctor checks your condition and what you are hoping for, and explains the treatment, the cost, the safety data and the matters relating to unapproved drugs in full.

  2. Choosing source and route

We recommend a source tissue (adipose, umbilical cord or dental pulp) and a route (IV drip or injection) according to what you are aiming for.

  3. Administration

Given by IV drip or by injection.

  4. Follow-up

We check for any change in how you feel after administration.

Certification

Registration and hospital partnerships

Under Japan's Act on the Safety of Regenerative Medicine, our Class 2 protocols are reviewed by a Certified Special Committee for Regenerative Medicine and our Class 3 protocols by a Certified Committee for Regenerative Medicine. The resulting treatment plans are filed with the Kanto-Shinetsu Regional Bureau of Health and Welfare. We also work in partnership with Keio University Hospital and Tokyo Saiseikai Central Hospital, covering pre- and post-treatment testing and, should it ever be needed, transfer of care.

Safety

How we manage safety

Every medical treatment, regenerative medicine included, carries some risk and some precautions. We go through each of them with you at the consultation beforehand, and proceed only once you are satisfied.

Treatment may cause side effects or changes in how you feel. Results and recovery vary from person to person, and no particular outcome is guaranteed. If you notice anything that concerns you, please contact us promptly.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

QHow does this differ from stem cell therapy?+

Stem cell therapy administers the cells themselves. Culture supernatant uses only what the cells secreted — growth factors, cytokines and so on. The fact that no cells are administered is the main difference.

QWhich source tissue should I choose?+

Which one suits you depends on your goal and your condition. A doctor will recommend one after examining you.

QIs it an approved drug?+

Culture supernatant is not approved as a pharmaceutical in Japan. We provide it as private treatment, and a doctor explains the matters relating to unapproved drugs at your consultation.

QIs this covered by insurance?+

This is private treatment and is not covered by Japanese public health insurance. The full cost is presented to you at your consultation.
